Another day, another rape, another murder and on the top of that, audacity to give rape threats. People must be thinking that none rape victim was given sympathy in today’s news… “Aaj to koi rape hi nahi hua…”
Wrong!
Every day, at least 13 girls are raped and every 1 minute, she getting rape threats and every second, she is afraid that what if something happens to her.
The real problem here is not rape but the punishment after that. If the victim dies, she gets all the sympathy and 7 years later, justice. But unfortunately if she survives, she has to answer the weirdest shameless question like- what were you doing out late in night? What were you wearing? Did you send any signals to him? Why were you born? You should have taken care of yourself.
The culprit doesn’t get punished so why anyone of you are surprised if “Ziva” gets a rape threat because his father lost a match? Why won’t she? After all that’s why girls take birth in the first place… To be the victim of anger, ego, lust and brutality.
We shouldn’t be surprised because here, if a rapist himself says that he has done a wrong deed, there are many people who will save him in the name of law. What is the meaning of democracy? The time when I read, it meant- “People of India are free to vote, protest, speak, etc. under Fundamental Rights until and unless THEY DO NOT HARM ANY OTHER PERSON” and when it is clear that the culprit has raped and murdered a girl, what is the point of giving him trail? What valid possible reason could he give for doing that?
If we want to protest against the threats and rapes, we need to implement strict punishment first. Those monsters are not afraid because there are no strict laws. We are done arguing about mentality and self defense. Nothing is changing but at least the laws can be changed. So, the amendment of strict punishment is necessary for such monsters in order to save girl’s life.
