Greater Noida: A three-day international certificate course was organized at the School of Law, Galgotia University, conducted by Professor Lucy Johnston-Walsh from Pennsylvania State University, USA. The course, titled “U.S. Child Protection System and Laws: Defining Abuse, Mandatory Reporting and Legal Representation of Youth in Juvenile Court Proceedings,” witnessed participation from around 170 students and faculty members.

During the course, Prof. Lucy Johnston-Walsh discussed several important aspects of the U.S. child protection system in detail. She provided in-depth insights into topics such as defining and identifying child abuse, the concept of mandatory reporting, and the role of legal representation for youth in juvenile court proceedings. The sessions also incorporated a comparative perspective, enabling participants to understand the similarities and differences between the child protection systems of the United States and India.

Each session concluded with an interactive discussion where students actively asked questions and clarified their doubts, making the learning experience more engaging and participatory. Prof. Lucy also appreciated the university’s infrastructure and the active learning ecosystem available for students.

At the conclusion of the program, an assessment session based on course-related questions was conducted to evaluate the participants. In addition, a special podcast session with Prof. Lucy Johnston-Walsh was organized, during which she shared her teaching experience at the School of Law, Galgotia University, and discussed the potential for international academic collaboration in legal education.
