Elephant Population in India

Elephants preferred to live near where water areas are available and food consuming area are more. During the beginning months of the year from January to April, they are gathered together in a crowd at high consistence of over to five individualities as per square km. With the onset of rains in May, they dispersed over a wider area at lower consistence, at major parts into the altitude lawns of jungles and timbers, to feed on the fresh meadows, which also had a high protein value. During the alternate rain seasons from September to December, when the altitudinous meadows came stringy, they start moving into the lower part of the short jungles and to open timbers. The normal movement pattern could be set during times of alternate environmental conditions of that geographical area.
