Earning a job is difficult if you are a women in India. And if you get one, then there starts a nightmare!!
Sexual Harassment at workplace is increasing day by day. As per a survey conducted by the Indian National Bar Association, earlier this year, found that of the 6,047 participants (both male and female), 38% said they’d faced harassment at the workplace. Of these, 69% did not complain about it. India is having progress in several fields, achieving a lot but when it comes about harassment then there is no progress, no actions are being taken place against the culprits, only India’s reputation is falling down in the eyes of public. When science is on the growing terms then on the other hand the sense of people is going down. When women are being empowered on one side, on the other hand they have to face so many difficulties.
As we all know that, India’s defense minister, textiles minister, all main ministers are all women but on the other side every day 20% of women are being sexually harassed at work place. Although organizations in Asia’s third largest wealth are lawfully required to have policies against sexual harassment at workplace, women rarely use them to complain for fearing of losing their jobs. Those who finally gather courage to act often end up in unsettle in long legal procedures.
Gender has nothing to do with this, not only women but men too are sexually harassed at workplace. Although we always try to protect women, lets not take men’s issue too lightly. There are increasing examples of men being sexually harassed – from being a target of heavy comments with sexual overtone to being chased. Our society would never accept harassment against men because according to them, Indian men are supposed to be “मर्द” , they have to take all this in the spirit of fun and not feel uncomfortable or complain.
