“That man is staring at me!

That man is very dangerous!

Men are not nice, they can harm you,

Men don’t understand women!…”

These are some complaints women or society does about men. But…. do all women understand men? Are men not in any kind of danger? Does society treat them equally?

Unfortunately No.

We live in a society where we have distinguished things for men and women. For instance – women should do domestic works, men should earn. Women love pink, men love blue. Women can show emotions and can cry but men can’t. They have to be strong.

Why can’t a man cry? Crying is an emotion, same as anger, happiness, jealousy and love. So if they can express all those emotions then what is wrong with crying? It is filled in a child’s mind that you should not cry like a girl, be a ‘man’ and you have to be strong. It becomes like a ‘duty’ to be strong rather than a ‘feeling’. We all talk about the equality but society has miserably failed in doing so. Issues related with women come into notice every now and then because they are more and also because ‘sympathy’ is associated with a woman. In this fight, we forget that before being a man or a woman, we are human beings. We all have rights to express ourselves.

Men have issues too. They also feel sad at times and want pampering. They also want someone to praise them for little things. They also like getting attention when they are in bad mood, they also like to hear that we care about them but we neglect these basic things about men. They do not speak up because it’s in their upbringing, “to stay strong without showing emotion” and people think they don’t have any. Some women may disagree about what I am saying because they may have suffered due to a man but here i am talking about man and not about ‘inhumans’ and they are two different types. We often see men as ‘culprits’ and women as ‘victims’ but lately, this society has made men the ‘victims’ who can’t even express their feelings. At present times, some women think its a man’s duty to handle her tantrums. If she is crying, no matter how much the man is hurt, he needs to calm her down. If it’s an anniversary or valentine’s, it’s only a man’s job to bring gift. But isn’t the celebration of festivals and occasions matter to both of them equally?

It will not harm a man’s pride if his wife brings him gifts or earn more than him. They both are equal and it’s time when ‘we’ the people of society accept that.
