TV is going to stay indifferent from Nishant Chaturvedi
School of Media and Communication Studies, Galgotias University organized a webinar entitled Impact of Covid-19 on Media Industry on May 14, 2020. The Special lecture was delivered by well-known television journalist Mr. Nishant Chaturvedi, Anchor and Senior Editor, TV9 Bharatvarsh. The Honourable Vice-Chancellor of the university, Prof.(Dr.) Preeti Bajaj graced the occasion to deliver the inaugural address where she appreciated the journalists and media persons for playing a crucial role in disseminating information during the Corona crisis. She also laid stress on focussing on the future ie on the post-Covid times where the role of the media industry will be closely watched and desired given the fast-paced technological advancements. Dr. A. Ram Pandey, Dean, School of Media delivered the welcome address and set the pace for a fruitful discussion ahead. The Guest Speaker, Mr. Nishant Chaturvedi gave his vast experience in television journalism emphasized the role of TV in the age of the Internet. He stressed that Television is here to stay but only in a different form. Mr. Nishant told the students that the TV Viewership has increased 6 per cent during the lockdown period and that the transition occurred faster towards online viewership during this Covid period. He also underlined that TV Viewers are mostly young and that are yearning for data-backed good content. Dr. Shuchi Yadav, Associate Professor addressed the questions of students. The session ended with a vote of thanks by the school Program Chair, Dr. Harish Kumar.
