The world is evolving so fast, every nation is contesting with each other which is the motivation to take help of technologies. Every industrialized nation is working on their technologies and machines but at the same time they don’t look at the adverse effect of these technologies.

Just as the country is developing, in the same way e-waste is also increasing. If the e-waste continues to increase in this way, then one day the whole world will bear the consequences.

The biggest companies that make electric things are making something new every month, and people also welcome them openly. The life of mobiles which the mobile companies are producing are only 2 to 3 years, which can be increased, but in the pursuit of their profit, they are passing new things to the people.

Comfort is causing problems

Everyone in the society is running to get comfort and to buy that comfort they buy devices like air conditioners, T.V., fridges, lamps, heaters and many more devices. Everything has a certain time and after that time everything will be outdated and then these devices are discarded but the method which people use is that they just throw these products or sell them to recycle. In the recycle process out of 100 only 10 percent thing s are recycled and the rest are dumped on the dumping sites.

The “fastest-growing waste stream in the world” is considered as being e-waste. The UN called the year 2018 a “tsunami of e-waste” meanwhile it is supposed that 50 million tons of electronic garbage were recorded. 53.6 Mt of e-waste, or an average of 7.3 kg per person, was manufactured globally in 2019. Out of the 53.6 metric tons of e-waste produced globally, 9.3% was legally acknowledged as being collected and recycled, while 44.3%’s fate is still unknown due to its dispersion and various environmental effects throughout the globe.

India has also taken a step to avoid e-waste

The possibility of using one charger for all gadgets, including smartphones and tablets, is being considered by the Indian government. Europe has also implemented a similar regulation and ordered all smartphone manufacturers to use a single charger. Users are need to purchase separate chargers for each device under the existing system.

How to avoid e-waste?

  • When seeing an upgrade for your phone or other device, be careful. Do you truly require a new gadget in order to carry out your duties or interact with others effectively?
  • Consider gifting the item to someone else if it is still in usable condition or only needs minor repairs. There are several administrations who will accept outdated products and receive value from them, notably mobile phones, if friends or relatives don’t want them.
  • Manufacturers should be contacted first if an item is defective or useless. Inquire about the procedure for returning used devices and their components for credit. Most people won’t return items at the end of their useful lives, but some will, and changing market behavior and responsibility will only happen if enough customers demand it.
  • Find a trustworthy local business that will recycle the item if there is really no way to reuse or return it. There are several locations that will accept used gadgets.
