The Indian Ocean’s geopolitical landscape is constantly changing. The waters of the Indian Ocean are most likely home to modern warships and submarines from powerful nations. This makes the Indian Navy’s role in contemporary geopolitics more difficult than ever. Naval warfare is changing as a result of intelligent technology, which allow superpowers to adapt and create new battle plans.
India must acquire contemporary, cutting-edge naval technologies to safeguard its interests. The naval forces must change their defence tactics from being human-centered to being technology-focused in modern combat.
A workshop on “Leveraging AI for Indian Navy” was held earlier this year, 2022, by INS Valsura to determine the advantages of cutting-edge AI technologies for the Indian Navy.
The Indian Navy is a very tech-savvy organisation. It uses platforms of the newest generation that are outfitted with state-of-the-art technology.
A few months ago, the Indian government announced that it was striving to reinforce the Indian Navy utilizing homegrown technologies during a symposium called “Swavlamban,” which was presided over by the Prime Minister.
The Indian Naval Indigenization Plan (INIP) 2015–2030 is designed to transition to cutting-edge technologies. The new catchphrase, “intelligent warfare,” calls for a revolution in military technology and its effective use.
New Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies that have been employed by the Indian military and industry must be developed and assimilated by the Indian Navy. Declining capital and manpower shortfalls are challenging the Navy’s plans to become a 200-ship force while retaining maximum combat readiness. It
must take advantage of AI and machine learning (ML) advantages to increase organizational effectiveness on many levels.
let’s introduce artificial intelligence Artificial intelligence (AI) is widely used in warfare. It uses a more intelligent approach, greater accuracy, and flexibility to meet the problems encountered on the battlefield. Several major worlds power
currently employ AI in naval applications or technology.
India is making progress in its efforts to create the AI mesh for naval battle.
AI systems are quicker to respond and smarter than operator-based systems. They can effortlessly manage and analyze large amounts of data. AI has a great deal of potential to advance new, cutting-edge technology.

The concept of hybrid conflict will evolve as naval forces become more digitalized because machine systems managed by AI will be quicker. The autonomous weapon system is the foundation of next-generation warfare. India needs a highly developed AI infrastructure to handle complicated tasks like scenario assessment, decision-making, and control without involving humans.
How can the navy make use of AI?
Oceanography, weather modelling, information technology, and network infrastructure all benefit from AI. It can improve the propulsion and power systems. It can be used to create dynamic mission planning, among other things.
In a nutshell, artificial intelligence is changing how warfare is fought. For strategic value, AI transformation must create a perfect synergy between cutting-edge AI products. The entire dynamics of the strategically collision with competitive metrics will change as a result of AI tools.
Senior serving naval officer and defense expert Cdr. Amrut Godbole said, “The existing and newly inducted work force must absorb new AI technologies. Building a future force that is AI-ready requires reskilling the current workforce and training new hires.
