Democracy is being practiced in Zimbabwe as the government gives room for the mass’ opinion, giving the right to vote, protecting the people, and law governed (constitution). Democracy is a system in which people are the voice and are equal,(no minority or superiority).democracy gives people freedom , justice, fraternity and liberty.
Zimbabwe got its independence in 1980 having won the elections against the British led by Ian Douglas Smith. Getting Independence made Zimbabwe a democratic country in which the people were freed from the torture as they suffered the most during colonial era in which they had no right to vote ,no right to education and no representative in the government , only to mention but a few.
Zimbabwe has 10 provinces having Harare as the largest and the center being the midlands. All the 10 provinces have their own Mayor to whom they tell their grievances to and then the Mayors take them for consideration in the government. Mayors are not appointed by the mayors but rather by the people through elections
The president is the head of the nation. The government consists of the legislature, executive, judiciary. Zimbabwe is a democratic country to some extent though some say it is not a democratic country but rather a Republican because since 1980, only one party has won the elections up till today. The way it is governed brings to light that it is democratic country rather than a republican and this is because of its characteristics.
