Supertech Upcountry in Greater Noida is facing a severe transportation crisis, leaving residents frustrated and stranded. The absence of reliable public transport, especially in the evenings, has made commuting a significant challenge. Students, professionals, and families are impacted, forced to either pay exorbitant fares or cancel their plans due to limited options.

The core issue lies in the lack of transport services within the area. Auto-rickshaws, the most common mode of transport, are scarce, particularly after 6 PM, as drivers cite low demand and safety concerns. App-based services like Uber and Rapido, though available, are often unreliable and costly for most residents. This creates a critical gap in transportation, particularly for emergencies or late-night travel.

The only nearby transport hub is the main gate of Galgotias University, where auto-rickshaws are available during the day. However, accessing this hub, especially at night, is unsafe due to poorly lit roads surrounded by dense forests. Once the university closes, even this option vanishes, leaving residents without viable alternatives. Auto-rickshaw drivers point to low passenger density and safety risks as reasons for avoiding the area. Many prefer operating near Galgotias University, where demand is steady and profitable. Trips to Supertech Upcountry often come with higher fares to compensate for the lack of return passengers.

The impact on residents is profound. Students face challenges attending classes or returning after late-night sessions. Working professionals struggle with night shifts, and families are cut off from essential services and leisure activities. The lack of transport fosters a sense of isolation, particularly for women and students, who face heightened risks due to unsafe surroundings.

Addressing this crisis requires immediate action. Installing proper street lighting and increasing police patrolling can improve safety, encouraging more auto drivers to operate in the area. Introducing dedicated shuttle services connecting Supertech Upcountry with nearby metro stations, markets, and Galgotias University can provide residents with affordable and reliable transport options. Additionally, financial incentives for auto-rickshaw drivers can make operating in the area more viable. Community-led initiatives, such as shared cabs or vans, can also offer immediate relief.

This crisis highlights the systemic challenges faced by growing residential areas without adequate infrastructure. Resolving it requires collaboration between residents, drivers, and local authorities to create a safer and more accessible transport system. Ensuring mobility is not just about convenience—it is about improving quality of life. Authorities must act swiftly to address the transportation needs of Supertech Upcountry residents.
