Saurav Kumar (BAJMC 3rd sem)

During my internship with the NGO Human Touch Foundation, I had the opportunity to teach and mentor students, which turned out to be a deeply enriching experience. Engaging with young minds and helping them learn and grow was not only fulfilling but also a learning journey for me. I focused on teaching them various subjects, such as technology, science, and mathematics, using modern teaching techniques to make the lessons more interactive and engaging. To boost their confidence and maintain their enthusiasm, I introduced small rewards, such as distributing snacks and chocolates. This approach uplifted their mood and made studying an enjoyable activity rather than a monotonous chore.

We also organized outdoor activities to enhance their learning experience. One memorable event involved taking the students to an open park, where they created posters urging people to celebrate Diwali with eco-friendly diyas and minimize the use of firecrackers to combat pollution. As part of this activity, we also distributed toys to children, which brought smiles to their faces and further strengthened the bond we shared. Another engaging activity was a quiz competition, where students were divided into groups and participated with enthusiasm. To motivate them further, we rewarded the winning teams with treats. These activities instilled a sense of teamwork and passion for learning while helping them understand the importance of education as a path to a brighter future full of opportunities.

Working with these students taught me the value of creating a positive and stimulating learning environment. It was heartening to see them develop a love for learning and recognize education as a tool to achieve their aspirations. The activities not only broke the monotony of traditional classroom teaching but also encouraged the students to think creatively and work collaboratively.

Personally, this internship was a transformative experience. It helped me develop essential life skills such as punctuality, leadership, teamwork, and public communication. I learned the importance of organizational skills and problem-solving, particularly in managing group activities and ensuring everyone participated effectively. Patience was another key takeaway, as I often had to explain topics multiple times to ensure every student understood, all while maintaining a smile and positive attitude. Teaching taught me to be resilient and adaptive, traits that are crucial for any professional endeavor.

One of the most rewarding aspects of this experience was witnessing the impact of my efforts on the students. Their smiles, curiosity, and willingness to learn were constant reminders of the value of education and mentorship. This internship also underscored the importance of giving back to society by empowering young minds and contributing to their growth.

Overall, my time with the Human Touch Foundation was filled with unforgettable moments and valuable lessons. It was a journey of mutual learning, where I not only imparted knowledge but also grew as an individual, gaining insights into effective teaching, mentorship, and personal development. This experience reinforced my belief in the transformative power of education and the importance of community service in shaping a better future.
