Greater Noida, Galgotias university, greater noida has organised the final round for the smart india hackathon 2023 initiated by The Prime Minister, Narendra Modi under ministry of social justice and empowerment, the ministry of Education, and the National Technical Research Organisation (NTRO), with 35 participating teams from 13 different states coming from 32 institutions with total 252 participants out of which 211 are participating students and the rest 41 are mentor participants. Smart india hackathon is an initiative by the students across the country to solve the problems of the daily lives. The first four programs of smart india hackathon has been successfully completed by providing the engineering students a great opportunity to develop their skills and innovate ideas for the upliftment of the society by their work.

There are various themes of hackathon which are categorized into different teams out of which 17 are midtech/biotech/headtech department, 6 are from smart education department, 7 from smart automation department and the rest 5 from miscellaneous department. The event started with a new chapter on 19th December 2023, with its inaugural ceremony in the university’s Swami Vivekanand auditorium at 8 a.m. followed by the lamp lightning and the felicitation of chief guests Shri Amit Kumar Ghosh (additional secretary, ministry of social justice and empowerment), Ms. Selvarani (innovation officer, ministry of education) and Shri Arun Dixit (joint secretary of planning and acquisition).
The vice president Dr. K. Mallikarjun Babu addressed the participants with their opening remark by sharing an overview of the smart india hackathon. The advisor to chancellor and former vice chancellor of galgotias university, Professor Dr. Renu Luthra provided the participants with the vision and mission of the program. The ceremony ended with the national anthem and the inauguration of the nodal centre in the B-block campus by cutting the ribbon by the former governor of Jharkhand, Prabhat Kumar
