“Bollywood is a big world that has evolved from many eras and has
gone through various phases”. Audiences have witnessed an era with
silver shimmers, an era with popular villains, an era with the comic
duo, and now it’s witnessing the era showcasing and breaking the
stereotypes and social stigmas.
Back when the films were all about drama, goons, heavy philosophical
dialogues, and suppressing women characters, it was all about the
amazing chemistry between the actors. Though I’m not denying the
fact that a few films were milestones in their era and have set an
example for the upcoming filmmakers I feel that at some point in time
Bollywood films were all about showcasing the cast of the film and
even the audience had a blind-fun in it.
Moreover, with time things have changed and now filmmakers have
gathered the courage to show the real image of society rather than
focusing on stereotypical concepts. Filmmakers have started
experimenting with their film styles and their target audience.
Honestly, this concept works vice-versa. As the filmmakers start
experimenting with new storylines, audiences have broadened their
mindsets to accept different concepts with time. With the support of
the audience filmmakers like Anurag Kashyap, Zoya Akhtar, Shoojit
Sarkar, Anubhav Sinha and many more have tried to break the wall of
stereotypes with their amazing performances like Gangs of Wasseypur,
Piku, Article 15, The Sky is Pink, Shubh Mangal Zyada Savdhan, etc.
With the release of such films, a different culture with a positive
attitude was witnessed among the mass.
In a conclusion, it is quite visible that audiences have now developed a
sense towards the storyline and concept rather than just focusing on
the cast of the film, and just because of the change Bollywood
filmmakers have left their baggage of old ways to impress the audience
in the theatres just for the sake of profit but now films are more of
rooted to the lost cultural aspects and in the present filmmakers has
started focusing more on potential stories and unique concepts
portraying reality.
