ADVANTAGE OF CENSORSHIP: –
Censorship helps control unlawful behavior-Helps to maintain Societal Balance -Prevention of offensive content-Help Maintain Control-Protection of Rights
If a movie contains scenes or language that hurt the sentiments of the people or make impact to the religions, then there will be riots break out to ban the movie or to prison the movie director and team. So, to avoid them, the government has made a censor board that will give notice to cut those unnecessary parts. If there will no censorship, there are dangers that movies that hurt sentiments of certain sections will be out in public which can lead to violence and trouble to public order.

Censoring of movies helps to keep children away from watching and listening inappropriate things.

There should be no aggravation with our history.

The Padmavat movie case which was released in January 2018 is the perfect example for the need of censoring movies to maintain peace and communal harmony.

DISADVANTAGES OF CENSORSHIP
-Privacy Issue-Takes away a significant level of Freedom-Restrict Access to Content-False Sense of Security-Losing originality
The arts do not influence people’s thoughts and feelings., It’s upon us that through what we influence, what we want to learn either it’s bad or good.

Censoring a part of the movies obstructs its creative flow. It’s always up to us if we want to watch a movie or not.

Censoring parts of movie, Documentaries, which are meant to expose truths, are also a bad sign, it never meant that we hide the truth from society

Filmmakers spend lot of money and time to make movies. If parts of the movie are cut in the name of censorship, they will be discouraged to make more movies.

This is true that, there is no censorship to the content on Internet. Hence there is no point in censoring just movies.
Cinema is an important platform of sharing expression of ideas and free thoughts. It must remain unrestricted from any kind of censorship. Restriction of any kind is violation of basic human right of expression. Censor Board should look into alternative options before banning a movie, to maintain balance between the right of expression and the duty to maintain peace in the society.
